This is a Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen, Foche, Folding knife. It was my Grandfathers, for most of his life. I got it from my older brother recently. If anyone knows what the model is or the age, I would love to find out more about it.

that's a pyramid that's faded out on the tang. its a natzi erra knife. the pyramid dates back to the very late 1800s.. 1898 to about the end of wwII. could've easily been army issue. there were other knives made during that time that have the same type of handle layout. kaat. Mercator knives were also army issue . some of them have a design almost exactly as yours. that, along with the pyramid makers mark, puts this knife in that time frame. as early as 1928. uncle ron might have better insight on this, but that's what my take on it is from what ive read.
Hi Whyatt. Thanks for your response. I found a pdf file about the factory and it's marks used over the history. It goes along with what you said. I appreciate you getting back to me.

these old german pocket knives are getting more and more expensive. its also a great hand me down item. thanks for posting it.
In Europe this type of knife is commonly called a “pradel”; however, that is just the name of a particular manufacturer. To a collector it is a “utility pattern” knife. Similarly, here in the US many people erroneously call the four-blade version a “scout knife.” In knife collecting there is no pattern called a scout knife. The only knives properly called scout knives are the ones designated as “official” scout knives by the Boy Scouts of America, Girls Scouts, and their affiliates.
