Gov. Harvey of Wisconsin went down during the Civil War to tend to injured soldiers.

Returning home, he was stepping from a stationary boat to a moving boat as was typical but fell and was carried down river. Days later, his body was retrieved, and in his honour a Veterans Post was named after him.

This 1889 Gov. Harvey Post booklet is in terrible condition, but the colours are still great on the covers, and it's a fascinating piece of Civil War-related history from Racine, Wisconsin.

It's a Roster for their Post and the Women's Relief Corps.

The Same Canteen was a wonderful piece to read, so I had to post that photo as well.

It's neat, but it's in the top three most fragile documents in my collection.

It will reside in an archival folder surrounded by tissue paper to keep it from sweating. Humidity has slowly softened it into an old tissue-paper-like ruin that's been eaten away at over the decades. The bleached paper was low-quality to begin with, too. It wasn't made to last, so I'm surprised it did.

I contacted the Sons of the GAR Wisconsin department and gave them a full set of photos of every page for their records.
