would very much like to find out the age and maker of this piece. it was dug in a privy dating from the late 1800s and has an applied handle and hand tooled lip. item measures aprox. 4" tall

Sure wish someone would chime in with who made this piece and what it might be worth.... I also have an identical piece, picked up cheaply at an estate sale.

      Not Fenton

that is correct, this piece is absolutly NOT fenton hobnail. i am guessing that this is a piece of victiorian art glass made around the turn of the century. the color is great. i would guess that the piece is worth $15 to $20 because of the color and the great shape. hope that helps a little.

for $15 or $20 I might as well put it back in a hole for a hundred years or so. I guess its a shame it can't be traced to a known maker.

i saw one of these on ebay nearly exactly the same as yours and they had a buy it now of $15 on theirs. so i dont know, just enjoy it!

Oh I do, I dig a lot of bottles in privies but I always keep things like this that surprise me that a person would even throw them away.Sure wish I could trace it to a maker I wonder if it could be Westmorland they made a lot of items in this color.

maybe it could be made by them....i just dont know. maybe take it to an antique shop, the people in there might be able to tell you more about it and even tell you the maker.

Thats an idea but I have tons of books on antiques and have researched it for a couple of years now that's why I put it on this site.By the look of things its probably like carnival glass a giveaway at a fair or something like that. I would think if it had real value someone would have told me something about it by now. Thanks for the input though
