Hello everyone. Could do with some help with these two watches I have. Does anyone have any information on either of them ? I Have seen the wristwatch on a website though not the pocket watch. A fake perhaps ? They both have a button on them and I've no idea what they do. Am a very new collector, started it to keep my mother busy in her old age ha ha. Any help would be brilliant. Many thanx.

I should add....the "button" you referred to, is how you set the time....While you depress the "button" and turn the Crown, the hands will move

Thank you Kerry that's great but I haven't seen another pocket watch on any website with the button . Does this mean they are rare ? I already have two other Balloon Trouser pocket watches plus a Bearded Mickey wristwatch and Pocket watch but as the above was only a few pounds I bought it anyway.

First off should explain, Ingersoll produced the original with and imported movement from Germany, hence the "Foreign" marking at the 6 o'clock on dial. It's most likely a "Clone" using a original dial, on a UMF (Germany) watch, the originals used an imported UMF push to set crown movement, these were a simple no jeweled movements and wore out, the pin-set UMF's are a lot more common style movement to be found and a jeweler probably rebuilt watch from what was available. The timeframe would be correct, but again a clone using parts available. The dial was worth your investment, to bad the sub-dail and other hand is missing.

Excellent that's exactly the info I needed thanx. I bought it to use as spares so not worried about the missing parts as have enough now to make up another one if I can find a restorer. Most Horologists won't touch them as the parts are hard to source but I have a few I would like cleaned and serviced at some point.

Love the pin set wristwatch with box, would love to know more about it, how you found it etc.

Am wondering if you might be a nurse in England?
    10. vonsboy vonsboy, 8 years ago
I may know someone who can assist wth cleaning, restoration if you haven't
      already found someone

Sorry for late reply vonsboy. Yes I am a nurse in the UK, the wristwatch with pin set is my mothers. She bought bought it off eBay in the UK couple of years ago, we seem to get the occasional bargain ha ha and yes I would be interested in someone to help with her collection please.

It's wonderful to hear from you , if you look at my postings you will see I also am a
collector of the English Mickeys. May I ask if you only collect the watches or do
you also collect other Disneyana? I am happy to help in any way I can.

Thank you for your offer that's great. I'm not a huge fan of social media, this is about the only group I belong to. I seem to have said "loves this" to my own posts. Sigh. Yes I loved your Bearded Mickeys and thought I had left a posting but it seems have gone astray ! I collect mostly wristwatches and pocket watches with the occasional clock thrown in. I have a wooden cookoo clock that I might take down and send a picture of, just in case anyone has any info on it.

I have asked a friend in the U.K. who repairs the English Mickeys if he is still in the
business,(He has been talking about retiring) and will let you know what he says, I
am a retired Nurse, was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in the 1970's. I have 5
      wristwatches and a clock.

I have a spare bearded Mickey wrist watch you can see on my posts that I would be willing to swap for the pin set watch and box pictured here, which is a Mickey dial and seconds hand on a replacement case and movement. My Mickey is complete and working although I don't wind it as the movements are fragile due to age. Forgive me if I'm out of line for asking.

Hi Vonsboy, I'm afraid none of my collection are for sale as have only been collecting for a few years, but thank you for liking it. I will let you know if I ever change my mind, we nurses must stick together.
    17. vonsboy vonsboy, 8 years ago
I was thinking of trading rather than buying as you said you liked the bearded Mickeys, and that yours wasn't complete or working. I understand what you mean though. And thank you for taking the offer in the spirit in which it was sent! Indeed
we Nurses, And collectors do need to stick together!

      Interesting CW article

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/wristwatches/mickey-mouse

Has anybody read this? Answered some questions for me.

    19. Wandlessfairy Wandlessfairy, 8 years ago
Thank you Gillian will have a read.
    20. Gillian, 8 years ago
CW does not permit solicitations to buy or sell, (CW will not give appraisals either). Anyway even if you're discussing a trade, I think you would be wise to discuss those via email perhaps.
@Wandless fairy - would you allow me to have your email address please?

Okay guys - if someone doesn't post a bearded Mickey, I wont be held responsible for my behaviour. Thank you very much.

Hi Gillian, sorry but only joined CW for info and help with my little collection certainly not to trade and never to sell. I'm sure the conversations above were only to help me. I Have put my Bearded Mickeys up but am sure you will receive lots of them and ones in better condition after your urgent appeal. Enjoy.
    22. Gillian, 8 years ago
I don't know anything about MM or collections of. I wanted just to have a quick conversation about 'trading' in general when you're a new collector.

      Completely understand your post.
    23. Wandlessfairy Wandlessfairy, 8 years ago
Thanx Gillian but no need for any conversation about trading as ANY requests along this line are unwanted and unsolicited. I do appreciate the concern though.

Was that your mom bidding on the bearded English Mickey wristwatch with a
      reproduction box?
    25. vonsboy vonsboy, 8 years ago
Wandlessfairy was wondering if you could be persuaded take and post a picture of
Your bearded Mickey wristwatch and your moms #1 wristwatch side by side to judge the difference in size?
