Not sure what this is. We lived in Japan in the late 50's early 60's and I think Mom probably bought it then. Any info would be helpful. It's 4-5" tall, someone said it was carved resin.

Hi, Welcome to CW :-)

I think it is vontage carved cinnabar, it doesn't seem to be molded resin.

Have a look there to see the clues and tests for Id:
