    Hello everyone!

Thought you might like to see these little creatures. I have had them for about 3 years now, I think they are adorable. Not hallmarked or maker marked, not that there is any room to do so, but I do think the wings etc would be silver, set with tiny pearls. Not sure what the pinky colour big stone is....perhaps garnet? Haven't attempted to clean them.....

The whole piece is really small with the total length being 4 1/2 cm, the flies are only 1 cm long, and the chain between the 2 flies is about 7cm.

Found the Australian advert from December 1901 with them called lace pins, which apparently were used to confine a length of lace at the neckline or throat of whatever you were wearing.

Normally I would have just called these stickpins or lapel pins, either way, very cute I think.

      Bzz Bzz!!!!
Wooooh! A very nice untouched pair :-)
I think the stones are garnets, but not sure if gold is alloy or rolled gold.
Highly appreciate the old advertisement too, GREAT POST TassieDevil!

Thanks kyratango, will always appreciate your input, knowledge & love of my things.
I don't know if other countries do the same, but our national library has digitized our newspapers from 1800s and they are available to search on line which is such a great research tool!

What a luck! No, here in France only some Infos available from Joconde database, libraries don't have these ads on line...
Sometimes the newspapers have a site, but the entries are difficult to search...
