I am fascinated by this figure that, I am told, my uncle bought this in 1946 while stationed in the Philippines. I would appreciate any info on this. Does anyone know what this is or who I might contact to learn more about it?

Is there a label or other mark on the bottom?

      hello,
      thanks for your comment.

my husband is driving this back to me in a couple of days. I do not remember any marking on the bottom of the stand. the figure is sitting on a 'stool' and is not attached to the base. I will take a look and report back to you.

That's different, I have a couple of similar and have seen several more, all Japanese themed, standing, and attached to a usually black wood base.
