These are wooden butter molds, and a butter stamp. Churned butter would be put into the molds and packed tightly. These particular pieces have swans carved into them. All were hand carved, so you will not find two that are exactly alike. As you can see, some were simple, and others more detailed. When the butter was ready you would push down on the plunger, and it would push the butter out of the mold leaving an imprint of the carving on top of the butter for decoration. Flowers ,cows, eagles and other subjects were popular motifs. Some were made that would hold one pound or a half a pound.
When was the last time you went to someone's house for dinner and was served fancy butter?
Who were the manufacturers of these molds? We have one with a stamp not like the ones shown in your pictures.
I don't know who made them, most were hade made.
