One of my thrift shop finds of today, but what is it's purpose? Sugar? Candy? Ashes?
    6"x 6" x 4.5"
The lid design is about useless as it cannot be picked up by simply grasping the flowered top - my fingers slide off. Have to grab it by the edges.
Having said all of that, I really do like it! I haven't seen one quite like this one.
    Thanks for looking/loving, CW friends!

I searched trinket box 461 and got nothing that looks like or is a pretty as morticia. ;(
I think its cool. :) The underside of that lid looks really different. Tried different light sources on it? I'm on an neodynimum hunt so that's all I can think about.
      Plus I'm an idiot. LOL

      OGF - Never change, LOLOL!
I am sure this is a German creation, but have not seen such a mark on other German pottery before - the mark that looks like crossed swords. Normally, there are reverse intaglio marks which say "MADE IN W. GERMANY" or simply "GERMANY" and the mold number. I have also never seen a pot ( or casket, lol) shaped like this with a drip glaze design. It's completely glazed inside and out, except for the edge on the lid where it rests inside the pot. The lid only fits one way. The lid underside and the inside of the casket are definitely different: all glazed and speckled.

I think I'm just going to refer to it as a casket pot until I actually know what it is!

OGF - are you looking for neodymium magnets?

An odd duck to be sure Bonnie..looks like majolica. Not much help as everyone and they're brother made some. You could start with Germany and search your way across Europe....maybe even the U.S.A. :)

No idea Bonnie - very 40s palette I think.

OGF - neodymium! I've got a monster vase here to post but I'm too tired to pick it up and put it on the table to photograph......

Well that is certainly a wild and crazy box, beautiful for my taste, I like unique things like this. Aren't crossed swords supposed to be Meissen? Though this is not a style I would associate with them.

Hey all - here is one that is very similar, made by Jasba. Many photos. Mine is somewhat larger.

      http://www.ebay.de/itm/Keramik-Dose-Schale-Deckeldose-mit-Markung-Jasba-Stil-Glasiert-Germany-Deko-M454-/271376061761

Here is another one, also different but the same ( lol):

      https://www.etsy.com/listing/170494160/vintage-sugar-bowl-jasba-keramik-germany?ref=shop_home_active_16

There was, it seems, a foil label at one time, like this one:

I guess I will mark this as SOLVED! Thanks for the help, everybody.
