Thanks Dizzydave. I will search through the link.

Thanks Brunswick. The colours used to be very vivid and bright when I was a child and that is what I liked about it then and now.

What did you find out about your painting? I have a painting by the same artist! My parents bought it in NYC back int the 60's!

I have one of his paintings too. Bought by my parents in late 1950’s in NYC.

Norman Lewis is the artist. 1909-1979. Artsignatures.com had his full signature in their data base. Hope this helps!
    12. Brandi1750, 2 years ago
I wish it were- but it is not Norman Lewis, he is an abstract artist and the signatures do not match :-(
    13. ArztNacht, 2 years ago
It matched an alternate of his signatures on artistssignatures.com. IF it were to be him, I'm wondering if it was just paintings done for teaching purposes. But I agree it doesn't match his more common pieces. The art period is definitely narrowed to the early 1900s, between the 40s and 60s based on what I found and the framing type. I'm going to get it appraised by Dr.Lori V and see if she can get an identification. I'll try to remember to update after.

I got my piece looked at and it was estimated to be early pieces from Australian artist Ted Lewis. He has a website and a contact form if you want to ask him directly. He's been doing large oil landscapes for over 30 years, so worth a shot.
