Well after a month or so of working at the co-op I was finally able to purchase some things I had on my wish list. My Asian items are selling very well thanks to one retired professor from the college who just happens to be an appraiser as well as a Japanese language teacher. It was a very good payday indeed so I decided to spread the wealth so to speak. This vase was first on the list and belonged to my fellow vendors Phil and Donna who just happened to be working today. It's from her private downsized collection and I got a nice discount too. Buying retail doesn't have to be too painful...lol. The online research pulled a huge amount of conflicting info on this little 7.75" vase. This is a yellow and cobalt Tango Welz-Loetz Michael Powolny torpedo-rocket "Deco" vase from 1910-1930...Whew ! or none of the a fore mentioned and just simply an unknown Czech/Bohemian piece. One thing for sure though it is beautiful and I don't even like yellow but with the cobalt blue it works for me. It's damage free although there are a few elongated bubbles in the yellow glass. Happy Joy ! -Mike-

Of one thing you can be sure, this shape in its red form appears on page 58 of Truitt vol. II. It is next but one to the 'rocket' vase I posted recently, but with no attribution for any of them. Both Kralik and Welz produced vases/bowls etc. on legs like these.

Great to have a vase that appears in a reference book!!

Thanks For all the info Sklo. I've seen several post from other members with different colors and wider and shorter shapes, but all supported by the same tripod type feet. :)

Congrats mike. You are so very deserving of being able to buy "not thrift". I don't know what that feels like yet and don't deserve to but you certainly are overqualified for the purchase and many more!! :)

Thanks for the comment on mine. They are alike and date 1925-1935, I think.

Forget Powolny as this is misinformation as is Loetz.

You're welcome Ian and thanks for the confirmation. Oh I know all too well the amount of misinformation out there when it comes to Czech glass. That's why it's so nice to have our glass people here on CW to sort out the truth from fiction. :)
