I tried to read the 'head-badge' but I couldn't, can you tell us what it says ? Are there serial numbers on the bike? and a closer picture of the main )large) sprocket would also help.........Thanks.

hey man, sorry about that. thank you for answering my post. unfortunately i havent bought it yet so i cant tell you what the serial numbers are or whats on the sprocket. i can tell what the name badge says. The badge says Wards - Hawthorne. i was going to wait and see what kind of info i can on it so i could offer a fair price but i think im just going to buy it because i like it and don't want to miss out on it.

Here's a good link for Hawthorne bikes: http://www.motoredbikes.com/showthread.php?t=17370 My concern about value on this particular bike would be that it's current owner (probably) has spray painted over every bit of chrome the bike would have had. This makes me think that the chrome must have been in pretty bad shape and getting everything redone or hunting down new parts will be very costly... It looks to be pre-war which is nice.... Would you buy it for the "cool" factor and ride it or were you hoping you had found something valuable? I'd pay maybe $125 to $150 for it...
