This is a boat hook found in 1967 in a remote canyon near Escalante, Utah. Does anyone know experts in identifying objects like this? Year/place of manufacture? Uses?

It might be a pike pole tip used for rolling logs. We still use similar items in the forrest industry. If there are not any manufacturing names on it it will be tough to pinpoint a year.

I have one - but w/ the pole still intact - which i think is a fireman's pole.

I have one that looks very similar, it is quite heavy gauge metal on a long pole, the firemen used them for pulling the thatch off burning properties.
