I am familiar with Clarice Cliff but don't really know anything about her wares. I think this 10 1/2" Plate is gorgeous, heavy enamel that (now don't laugh I'm ignorant about Ceramics) the enamel is raised way up, whatever you call that. Anyone know what the pattern is called or when it was made or anything at all would be a help. Thank you!
If anyone is interested I found out the name of this pattern is Orphelia and it was made in 1938.
I agree with bellin68 Iv got an antique price guide book infront of me unfortunatly your particular plate isnt in here but WOW its expensive stuff congratulations!
I would get it valued and then insured if I owned it.
cheers
also it says on the hall marking newport which I belive was her first factory when she was about 29? (might have age a little wrong) Well that factory has been protected for many many years as a historical building which sadly was torn down only in 1997 to make way for housing. I dont know if that would also increase value to your piece or not?
Like I said I may have a couple of details incorrect there but only because it has been stored in my brain for some time.
Her absolute first pattern was called Bizzare! and it took off so well she ended up naming an entire collection Bizzare not just the pattern.
Well I hope some of that is interesting for you
A Spectacular Plate! Beautiful!
