These pcs. of barbed wire came from B H Slaton of Stinnett,Tx. I was at a estate sale and obtained them. There is approx. 220 + samples that Mr. Slaton picked up off the ground between Texas and The Rocky Mountains. Wire is 18" or longer. Im not a collector, just thought they need to be seen by the public somewhere. Not sure if there is any value here. Anybody have any direction to go with them.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke with a gentleman in Colorado yesterday and he mentioned a barb wire show in Pueblo coming up in June. Might take a road trip and and get a schooling on barb wire. The Kansas Museums might work.

The Antique Barbed Wire Society publishes a Value Guide for antique barbed wire each year. The wires you have illustrated are very commonly found since so much of it was manufactured. In 1885 one factory alone was producing 500 miles of fencing every 10 hours. There were approximately 70 factories producing barbed wire. That translates to a lot of wire. The "rare" barbed wires have long since disappeared from fences. In some cases perhaps only a quarter of a mile of wire was produced because it was deemed impractical to manufacture. Those wires are in museum and private collections. The value of your collection is between buyer and seller. Old doesn't necessarily translate to valuable.
