This beauty was rescued from the pigeon-infested rafters of it's former home in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania. The neon was long gone, but i removed and saved what was left of the glass brace-pegs and hardware from one side of this double-sided sign. Unique for many reasons, most notably it's the only black and yellow Kelvinator sign I came across in research, it seems all other versions are/were navy blue and yellow. Made by Art Kraft, Lima, OH..whose founder was the creator of many of the amazing Times Square neons/lighted signs from the 30's-50's. Also, the appliance store in Erie that this sign hung above was recreated and featured in the Tom Hanks film "That thing You Do". A few minor dings in the beautiful porcelein paint job, and the mounting brackets and electric box are still attached.
This would be an easy one to replicate glass for. If you ever want to, southurn.surgeATgmailDOTcom.
Nice sign and I like the embossed letters. It would look great with neon lit up.
