My Wills Capstan sign
Its cast iron and I have never seen another one!
Original colours as far ad I know. I've had it for about 20 years and never touched it, always kept it indoors. Its still got its original bracket on it.
I know the shop where it used to hang but I have no idea how old it would be. Even the Wills website doesn't have historical facts on it.
What is Wills's Capstan?
Oh! Ciggies!
Looks original to me! Circa 1920...

Thank you Celiene, but I know that its original, there are photographs of it above the shop taken in the 1930's.
I just would like to know when H. D. & H. O. Wills had this type of sign made. As I said, I have not seen another example of a cast iron sigh anywhere. Lots of enamel ones, common as muck they are!
Regards,
Chris
The link I gave says cast aluminum. Solid (not hollow) cast aluminum is pretty heavy, too. Maybe contact that shop and inquire as to the weight of theirs, or maybe they will have more info.
Thank you Celiene,
Sorry, I missed the link altogether !!!
Amazing. 1920 ish then, thank you.
