These treasures were found in my attic during the cleanup going on. Back in the 80's I wanted my bedroom decorated in an Asian motifs so these are some of the items I used. I'm not sure if they're Chinese or Japanese, etc.
Photo 1 & 2 are 8" hand painted disc's on either Quartz or Alabaster then coated with something clear. They are just beautiful and we're always the center point of my room.
Photo 3 are 2 pictures I watched being painted by a very old Asian man I met at a huge flee market in MA. He was sitting there by himself painting so I asked (by hand signals) if I could purchase the picture he was painting plus the one he already had done. He shook his head then added the writing on each picture. I have no idea what characters mean because he couldn't speak English. He must have been in his 90's and was so sweet.
Photo 4 is an incredible collection of woodblock prints made into a 1981 calendar by the Museum of Fine Arts/Boston. The reproduction are the work of Kitagawa Utamaro from 1753-1806. Just beautiful.
