In a box of stuff we got today. Notice the swastika design. I know the swastika was used in native American Design long before it was adopted as a nazi symbol.
Can anyone help ID the source of the symbols on this item.

Use all pictures. Try reorienting in upright, and a close up of the symbols, and a pic of the back.

Looks like an eagle at the top. The Swastika is the Nazi orientation.

Celiene, the swastika was used in both orientations for good luck etc. before the Nazi's came along.

Maybe that is a Native American Thunderbird at the top. What is on the other side of the swastika? HArd to see - you have to turn your head sideways.

Is it a stamped design? Samer thin on the back indented? Looks like snakes under the Thunderbird. Looks like someone used leather tooling tools. See those those arcs around the sun?

Looks like some was impressed from the front, and some from the back. Does it smell like Silver?

maybe take a look through this book on google books, pg 97 explains the meaning of the swastika and you might find some of the other images adorning your find. Absolutely beautiful!

Cjoe - it's native american, not Tibetan.
