Rare 1937-50 Limited Zippo Lighter with engraving of Castile Oil Company .

This was part of a Special Quantity Order and is manufactured of steel instead of brass due to the Korean War . The indivudal consumer could not and still cannot purchace a lighter directly from Zippo Mfg Co. that was manufactured as a '' Special order '' . This Zippo was purchased at an auction roughly 40 years ago . It was a box of different items , and in the box was a small round case with a draw string and glued in the center inside is a small , brass , circular case , suitable for a compass . There wasother military trinkets in the case but the Zippo stood out to me . This box was purchased by my father some 40 years ago . The patent number dates it from 1937-50 , this zippo my have been used by a soldier overseas because there were items from Polinesia in the case as well .
