I am not even sure if this is really called a tankard. The thingy is unmarked but resembles in style some of the examples in the book. I am sure that it is old, but this is all I am sure about. I has a mold number on the bottom: 420.
I have a piece by Schumann that feels and looks very much like this piece here. The Schumann piece dates back to the very early 1900's.
Any help would be appreciated.

That handle design was used by the firm of Moritz Zdekauer (MZ Austria) from 1884-1909. Here is a link to a marked piece with that handle.

Beautiful. I think the tankard is a type of drinking vessel, I can't imagine somebody to drink from your stunning item. To me it looks rather an ewer :)
My books call these tall straight-sided lidless pieces "tankard pitchers". Ewers seem to have a bulbous body that becomes slender towards the top, with a flared spout. They were all decorative as far as I can see, and probably never saw any practical use.
