This is an adjustable 6 inch C-wrench produced by the Crescent Tool Company circa the 1960s. It features Crescent's Crestoloy, an alloy which gave extra strength, while reducing the tool's weight.
Acquired by another company, some Crescent Tools are still produced in the USA, but not in Jamestown, NY anymore, but somewhere in the Carolinas. The rest are "imported".
These are good, reliable tools…..
"Made In The USA" and so it should still be that way today! Many of the old tools are still the best.
Yes, efesgirl…you are right! I try to find old, USA made tools at auctions and sales, they ARE the best!
Thank you for your love of this wrench!
Thank you, Thomas…I am thankful for your love of this great C-wrench.
My grandpa swore by this brand, never had any others!
Hi, Thomas…I checked on that connection, and Crescent is now part of the Apex Tool Group, and Emerson/Ridgid is not part of that group. And you're right, some of each company's tools are made in North and South Carolina.
Thank you for your input….
Good morning, gc. Your Grandpa had good taste in tools! Thanks for your comment, and for the love of this item….
Take care, Ted….
Metric or SAE ?
Hi, Buss….the measurements are SAE..thanks for your question.
Hi, Caperkid, fortapache, nutsabotas, and Dave…thanks for your love of this C-wrench.
Ted, it was a joke. There is no difference.
Yes, Buss…but some are marked in mm and some are in inches :)
Which reminds me of a story which occurred in my younger days. A kindly neighbor who ran a pipe cleaning business hired this neighborhood know it all youth, with the hopes of him "shaping up". It didn't work, as the boss got so fed up with the kid's sense of superiority, that he told the lad to "Go buy a left handed monkey wrench, and don't come back without it."
Well, the kid was out all day, saying that the stores were "all out of such an item." He got mad at our laughter when he told us this, and even after showing him a "regular" wrench, he insisted that a left handed monkey wrench did exist!
He didn't return to work for the neighbor…….
Thank you, Sean…I appreciate the love!
