I believe these Mahogany pieces were made in Chicago in 1909. Restored in 2010. Interested in learning anything about them. Located in The Woodlands, Texas area.

The furniture maker really went to town on this one, never seen anything like it. A mixture of styles, doubtfully repeated. Unfortunately about 99% of makers left no records for posterity, and there were so many at that time.

I've been researching this for a long time. My grandparents owned this furniture since it was new. I've never seen anything like it

The style is basically Second Empire, circa 1870. I like the recovery of the fabric, bold but classic.

The fabric is new. Reupholstered in 2010 but looked like it had been reupholstered 2 or 3 times previously. Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren took a toll on the fabric over the years.

This is most certainly not a solicitation to sell, but I may be interested in doing so in the future. Never having sold such items before, I have a few questions that perhaps some of you may be able to answer.
      1) Should I have it appraised and if yes how do I find one in my area?
      2) A friend suggested a consignment shop. What would be a reasonable commission be?
      3) Another one suggested Ebay or similar online sites. I would think shipping would make this prohibitively expense but I'm just guessing. Anyone have any experience shipping furniture?
      Thank you

An appraisal is not really needed as furniture went wacko when the internet came on and prices fell drastically around the world. Furniture prices have not recovered since 2007, hopefully someday. You may end up having to put it up at a good auction house near to you. Depends where you are located.
