I was cleaning and consolidating my Dad's tool collection of over 75 years, (Dad is 89), and came across a Millers Falls-stamped hand tool, but neither my Dad nor I can figure out what it is, why he has it, when he bought it, nor what he used it for.

It has a smooth wooden handle with finger slots on both sides. There is a tensioning wheel at the fulcrum of the blade. The apparatus is 9.5" retracted, 12" when the blade is swiveled to 180 degrees and fully extended. The dummy end is radius(ed), with the 45/135 angled foremost when extended.

It only retracts/tightens for proper storage in one position - to keep the sharp, angled end of the blade tucked nicely into the edge of the handle.

    Can someone help, please?

    Mystery of a lifetime.
