I purchased this cage doll in Michigan. She stands 28" tall and is about 10" wide at the base. She is hand carved from wood and is very chipped all over. She could be made to look old or she is old. I care not because I love her. Her arms are jointed. I have seen others like her online.

Manikin, thanks for the love and the complement on my doll. I read up on Cage dolls after I purchased her. I didn't know their history prior to that. I simply liked her look. Have a nice day!

antiquerose, thanks for the love. I did not know of cage dolls until I found this one and had to have her! They do have a very interesting history. They are also called Santos dolls or little saints, originally used on alters in the home and carried in parades of a religious theme. I've seen photos of them with flowers in the cage. Very popular in Europe in the 1700's and 1800s. Have a nice day!

thank you betweenthelens!! She is one of my favorite things although I've not had her too long. I had not seen one before our trip to Michigan either. But I have seen a few since then and read up on their history. Would love to acquire another! have a nice day!
And a belated thanks to all of those who have loved my cage doll. It is much appreciated!

Oh Nicefice, thanks for loving my cage doll whether she is old or a reproduction. I really am not so concerned if I love something. I would not want to pay authentic price for a repro though. But I do not purchase high dollar items often. I love the thrift stores and yard sale circuit and that occasional SCORE!!
