We think it a timing piece of some kind. But it's not a pocket watch, as it goes only up to 10. Where the seconds would be, it goes up to 100. There is no way that I see to wind it or stop/start it. I cannot open the back, either.
It says A. P. Co. above Made in U.S.A. and Pat Applied For.
What is it? Is the back a screw-off? That didn't work either. How old is it?
I just googled made in usa a.p.co and found pedometers! In images
You have to be able to take the back off so you can set the length of your stride
American Pedometer Company, made 1903 about in New Haven
Neat -- I had just posted a ??? on one too a couple days ago, but mine was made in Germany -- but like you, I did not know what the heck it was....LOL

Thank you, Tassie Devil. I was also wondering if it might be a pedometer, but I didn't think it'd go by hundredths. You're saying this piece is from 1903, though?
Antique Rose, yours has a very interesting feature to it.

Hello Spirit bear, this is the link to your pedometer...hope it helps
Thank you so much! That's everything I want.
I might just have it repaired one day, too.
That's great SpiritBear!
