Still yet another from my set of promotional double sided pictures from the Douglas Aircraft company. These were made around the 1956. The pictures that is.
In addition there are two photos from the Pima Air Museum in Tucson. This is one of only 9 examples left. One flies and this is not that one. Although it could be restored to flying condition.
The C-124 Globemaster was a very early heavy lift aircraft made from 1949-1955. It could even carry a tank. A big drawback to this plane was that the cargo door was 16 feet off the ground. The next generation of cargo planes were built lower to the ground to the ground and vehicles could drive up a ramp into the plane.
