A few years ago I purchased a small lot of old photographs of the West and this was one of them. Most of the photos are from the late 1800s. This one is of a couple, who appear to be interracial, and it was taken at the Lentz Brothers Studio, Ground Floor, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Unfortunately, the picture is quite hard to see in real life (my photos of it are actually pretty good). I am not sure that the couple are of different races but I thought it was very interesting if they were. The woman is wearing what appears to be a wedding ring and their pose is like the poses of married couples.
I welcome hearing from anyone who has any information to share that might shed some light on this photo.
Thanks!
ps this is sort of big for a carte de visited but I checked that category since I wasn't sure where else to put it.
Your photograph is actually a cabinet card.
From what I can see, I would suspect that the man is African American as well-- just a little lighter skin color than his wife.
Too bad about the condition.
Thanks for sharing.
