I bought this at a garage sale. I love it so much. We think it might be from the early 1900s but we are unsure. It looks to be made of birch. There are old square cut nails in the bottom. I live in Southern Minnesota. It has a tag that is partially ripped which says "*ocker chair company" and "shee* ***** ****is." Some of the lettersbare missing
That's a STUNNER! What location did you get it - that might help identify it ? Can you fix your pics & post one of the bottom. I LOVE those beautifully carved twists.

Those are barley twists, and the back is pressed wood, not carved. That's all I can tell you. Probably 1890's. I love it.
