Beautiful antique/vintage chess set, marble top comprised of black and white squares with red edging. Really well put together, the wood is held with tiny wood dowels at the corners, and each piece of wood is book matched, as the grain runs through each part!
The inside is lined with white satin and blue velvet, and the lid is lined with hair (horse or human) that pokes through the lining in places.
The set is made from black and green onyx, each piece is hand carved, and show slight differences.
The two kings have Asian style figures/pictograms carved into the tops, and I will post more pics to show details.
Anyone know what these mean or stand for?
The set is 8 inches by eight inches, and 1.5 inches deep.
Any help with the age would be appreciated too.
Looks like this one.

That's amazing Celiene, thanks for finding these!
No, I only paid £2 for the set in a charity shop.
Well that's good! You got a bargain!
