wooden carvings of black coffee pickers

These are about 10 inches high. Both men are wearing a fez and have a monkey on their shoulder and a basket on their back. The centrepiece is a casket held two men with a monkey on top of the casket. I wonder if this depicts Ethiopian coffee pickers. They are beautifully made and I think it is wood but hard to tell. I would like to know more about them
