I acquired this delightful item in a box of bric-a-brac at an auction recently and I cannot find anything out about it! I have trawled the internet and cannot see anything like it! It is an egg shaped glass box with engraved flowers, Queen Mary's image and the words Majesty Queen Mary on it. Obviously it would have originally been Her Majesty Queen Mary but the first word must have worn. The image of Queen Mary is a youthful one so this must have been early in the reign. Maybe this was a coronation souvenir? Why is it egg shaped? What did it contain? I am fascinated and wonder if anyone can enlighten me? Thank you!
What an interesting find! How large is it? It's possible that it's just an egg shaped glass trinket box
Queen Mary ruled from 6 May 1910 – 20 January 1936.
Thank you so much for your reply! It is 4 3/8" or 11 1/2 cms long. As the image of the Queen is so youthful, as I said, I think it must be early in the reign. Of course, she remained Queen Mary until her death in the 1950's. Do you think it could be a trinket box? Possibly around the accession or coronation but not actually commemorating it? Just can't find anything like it!

I also looked and tried an Image search - a big fat zero. I have also never seen anything like it. Interesting that it was in a box of bric-a-brac. I wonder if it came from someone who was somehow connected to the royals, and this glass egg was a gift. Are you in the UK?
