I have not seen one of these before, but suspect it comes from India. Normally I walk right by brass stuff, but this was on the table of a dealer friend. All hand etched. After a good scrub with Brasso, this little guy is all clean again. I wonder if it is supposed to be used as a "Reserved" card holder/name card holder for a restaurant table setting, since the mouth is open. Then again, maybe not....

bb2 - that's the only thing I could come up with...maybe it's the red eyes! LOL
I have red eyes, but I'm not a ray. A cheap skate maybe ! Head like a mud puppy. Maybe it's an identifit ?

It may be a knife rest or a chopstick rest. Several fish knife rests with red eyes, but no sculpin!
