Yo_Lamp
(1 item)
We inherited this lamp and don't know anything about it. It is in very good shape. It is electrified (don't know if it came this way or if it was done later). The mantle and globe are in perfect shape. I looked at many pictures and have not seen one like it. The base is some kind of stone (alabaster maybe?). Can anyone tell us about this? Are these types of lamps rare?
Thanks!
Good morning Yo_Lamp,
Your lamp, is a marriage; the base is older than 1928, which Aladdin model 12 is.
Model 12 came in as a regular metal base table lamp, a vase glass lamp(with an oil pot like yours), a hanging lamp, a wall bracket lamp, and a floor lamp.
If you're interested in Aladdin lamps, there is a book by JW Courter named Aladdin The Magic Name in Lamps; the whole history, pictures and more.
Note: the first 12 models were centre draft lamps, meaning they breathe from an opening in the bottom of the base. Your pot has a tube through it, but the font holder also has to have holes in it for the air to travel through the pot centre hole, than to the burner.
Good luck.
