It's a Flax (or Hemp) comb or Heckle or Hetchel or Hatchel - spelled many ways. 19th century. That one would have been attached to a bench.

You are welcome! Are you the curator?
    5. ted_hawley, 9 years ago
I'm not the curator. My daughter and granddaughters visited there yesterday and sent me the pictures of the comb wondering if I could help figure out what it was. It seems that it has been on display and unidentified for quite a while!
