Picked up these two delightful little items for my mum.
    Can't find these anywhere.
Would love to know their age what the proper name for them is and if they have any value though that's not important as they wont be for sale.
If anyone knows anything it would be much appreciated.

How interesting! I've never seen such coat hangers. An image search didn't turn up anything.

Hello, these Victorian / Edwardian hangers were used to hang a barristers wig from one arm, the robe from the other. A servant could hold it without dragging the robe across the floor and hang it up when there was a break at court. There are tin boxes for the wigs and special bags for the robes to transport/store them - so the hangers were exclusivly for breaks. In case the court provided those "mushroom-like" stands for the wigs, the hangers had not these turned upward arms, but downward since it had just to carry the robe. There are pretty nice examples with brass arms and sometimes porcellain knobs at the ends. Please note the tiny hooks, which will usually not fit on a regular rail, since they were hung on hooks or wardrobe stands. Using "barrister's" or "judges" hanger you will find a few in the net (ebay, auctioneers etc). I presume these hangers were provided by the courthouses and, not to my surprise, pretty often they are offered in lots 3 or more, though in most cases all a bit different.
Best regards from Germany were these hangers are even more exotic! Matthias Dülp (pretty much to be found about my collection using my name and "Kleiderbügel" as keywords)
