I was given this by my 93 year old Grandmother, she got it in 1968 while living in Lancaster, PA. It is an Amish leather belt for the cow or horse, with 8 brass bells that start at size 8 and graduate down to a size 3 at the other end. The belt measures 28 inches from the buckle to the end. The bells have a design on all of them too.
This belt is in great shape, it was found in an antique shop there in Lancaster. When my family would visit from Ohio my Mother and my Grandmother would both go to browse the antique shops in town and always come back with some trinket, or sometimes a large purchase that would send either my Dad or Grandfather into a fit LOL. It was interesting to my Sister and I to watch that for sure...ha.
Because this is only 28 inches, I do not think it was made to put on any full grown animal. If it was used at all, it could have only fit a calf around the neck. I hung it on the wall in my living room after Grandmother gave it to me, she had it on her wall too in every home or apartment she lived in after she bought it. When she moved into an assited living home she had to downsize from an apartment to a single private room. I was happy when she gave this to me, I know she loved this and I do too :)
Enjoy the pics :)
Thank you very much for the "love" you have shown for this item :)
