This beautiful print was done by Native American artist Harrison Begay. I have had this print for awhile, it hangs in my living room where my friends and family can see it when they visit. It reminds me of my dear friend every time I look at it, he passed from Pancreatic Cancer a few years ago. He gave this print to me before he passed, he was great friends with famed actor Tony Curtis in the 1980's and Mr. Curtis gifted this and many other works of art to my friend Jimmy, many of which are now in my home.
I never got a chance to get any infomation on most of the prints and paintings that I got from my friend, he was so sick by the time he gave the artwork to me that I did not want to spend time talking about who made them. It took about a year for me to really start looking at them for information about the artists. I knew who Harrison Begay was, but there was no title of this print anywhere on it on the front or back. I began a very long search for this print and could not find it anywhere. It took three years for me to finally get the information on this print that I needed.
I finally joined Pinterest in 2016, and started looking at everything Native American on it. I was amazed at all of the information I could find there, and when I put a picture of this print up, I got a hit on the same print at the Dallas Museum of Art. I sent them a message, asking for the name of this print and I got the answer I had been looking for, for three years. This print is called "Spotted Pony", and Mr. Begay did this one in 1952.
I would like to thank the Dallas Museum of Art, for being so very helpful in giving me the information I had wanted for a long time now about this print, I am so appreciative for that.
Enjoy the pics :)
