Bought in 1906 from Nathan Dohrmann Co. in San Francisco. My mother recovered it from my Great Grandfathers home. Believed to be a Walter Murphy clock. Tom of clock is about 26" and the bottom is 23". The height is 8' tall.

Do you mean a Walter Durfee Grandfather Clock?
    2. Bruce99 Bruce99, 8 years ago
By the way, Welcome to Collectors Weekly!

Your Mother apparently has inherited a Walter *Durfee* Pattern No. 5.
A very fine, high quality Tall Case Clock.

Here's a link to one which was retailed by Tiffany. https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/18017474_tiffany-and-co-tall-case-carved-oak-walter-durfee-5-cloc

Generally speaking, there is more demand for almost anything "Tiffany" but Walter Durfee is a clock which is highly sought after by many collectors.
Here's a link with a brief history of Walter Durfee: http://www.clockguy.com/SiteRelated/SiteReferencePages/WalterHDurfeeHistory.html

As you can see, the clock in the link sold for a hammer price of $22,000!
Add 18% "Buyer's Premium" and the Winner paid almost $26,000 for that example.

Although it's difficult to really know from photos, your clock looks to be in better condition than the one sold at auction.

Very fine heirloom. Thanks for sharing it with us. If that solves your mystery, please indicate "Mystery Solved" in your listing. If not, what other questions do you have?

Sorry, but I meant to spell Walter Durfee and not Murphy. Thanks for the interesting article on Durfee and the auction info. I have had this clock for many years and love it dearly. hartatak

You're very welcome hartatak! I can see why you love your heirloom. It's really a very fine clock with so much attention to detail. The cut, beveled glass panels in the front door tell you right off the bat that this is not your typical Grandfather Clock. Just beautiful....thanks again for sharing it with us! :)
