This is a glass wine flask from a home that was built in 1756 in Connecticut. It stands 8" and at it's widest 6". It looks to be painted rather than etched. Was told it is very valuable, but I can't find anything like it to compare it to.
It somehow reminds me of Bohemian/Victorian glass. Check for ruby red glass with images of children.
this décor is know as 'Mary Gregory' style glass, and originated from Bohemia. The décor has been copied by various companies over the years. Try researching "Mary Gregory Glass' or Mary Gregory decanters...

Hello, I do not know if this information will be any use in your research but I have a decanter/wine flask almost exactly like yours. I found mine when I replaced the roof of my 300 year old stone cottage in 1982 where I still live. My decanter depicts a small boy of the 18th century holding a branch with leaves. I took it to the local museum in Kirkcaldy ,Fife, Scotland. As they could not identify it they sent it down to London, I believe, the Victoria and Albert museum. Some time later I received the following information. it is called a Cameo glass decanter made in Philadelphia circa 1780.They suggested that it was possibly portraying George Washington just after he cut down , think it was a cherry tree. Unfortunately I have lost the letter but information might made it easier for you to find out more as at least you are in the country of its creation. If you do find out more I will be very interested in what you found out. I gave my decanter to my daughter who lives in Sweden last year but I still have a number of pictures of mine.
