I managed to get a few better pictures of this item. I picked this up in a thrift shop, I just don't know what it is. I thought maybe pewter or silver. It really is interesting.

I don't have a single clue..but somebody who does will come along!
I THINK it MAY be for snuff. MAYBE for some spice? Possibly Opium? It screams India to me, but I could be wrong. Any marks?
Post in the Tobacciana category.
For khol!

My best best is an Opium keep. There were all kinds of Opium tools back in the day. My second guess would be modern snuff, or for spices. Spices back in the day were as valuable as gold.
Check with the Opium Museum. (Yes, that's real!)

They have a FB page, too.

No, no, Celiene :-)
Opium is a paste, and need to be kept in a wide opening box to be able to pick it.
The stick isn't a spoon, but all round, so not for snuff.
You use it to apply khol on the inside edge of your lids (put it horizontally on the lower part, close the eye, and pull gently!) :-)
Ooops - Steve Martin, the Curator passed away in 2015.
Post in Asian antiques, too. India sub category if there is one. You can post in two categories.
Kryatango - really? Do you have another example? Where is this from? What is its name?
WOW! Good call Kyra! Possibly Bedouin. You are so good!
