I have no other information.. I am helping an acquaintance try to identify this object. Worth will come later. I know it is significant, and not a modern fake, replete with patina. Anyone?

possibly slave era Ceramics, Found in Georgia.
Those distinctive shaped eyes are called "coffee bean" eyes in the trade, and are usually associated with pre-Columbian pottery from western Mexico. They are also found in a few other world cultures, but based on the clay type itself, that's where I would start looking.
Where an object is found may have nothing to do with where it was made. Identifying the source of the clay this is made from would give the definitive answer. Clay varies greatly, and can be analyzed to give the location where it originates (an expensive test, however, probably not worth the trouble in this case.) Just looking at it, however, it's clear that this isn't the type of clay typically found in Georgia.
I very much appreciate you're input, the eyes suggested mesoamerican to me also. This person brought the figurine to Facebook on an Arrowhead and Artifact talk page. it looked significant to me and encouraged him to not take the first offer and I would try to help him research it.
I've passed your words along because the conversation was leaning toward slave piece, and it did not fit any of the types I found imaged in google.
If you should have more thoughts or can push it toward the right antique historian it would be appreciated. Thanks again.
I love it......................but thought I better LIKE it -- in case it is a VOO DOO DOLL
It may be Rare....
Is the mole on his face significant? That may indicate it is of a particular person, no?
It would be nice to see the whole thing. Use all four pictures.
Welcome to CW, like suggested by, Celiene use all pictures(3 more), very interesting first post, congrats on that one.

Alan
thank you all...... I posted this for a nonentity on FB, started the ball rolling for him, thinking I could show him you've got to think outside your box, that there is an internet out there to ask, then I had a bit of the hospital and I see he didn't pick it up.
But leave your comments and maybe I can find him again. If I'd had it, I would have provided all you would need... But alas it's not my cross to bear now. I'll stop back in later. Again thank you for the intelligent responses/sense of humor.
