This doll was given to me as a child. It had been my great aunt's when she was a child and the clothes the doll is wearing are my aunt's clothes. She is 29 inches long. Her red hair seems to be real human hair.

The body is fabric and stuffed with something coarse like sawdust. The head arms and legs are a composition material. The thick covering/paint is badly damaged and cracked so the composition material is visible. Her eyes still open and close when she is moved. She has a sound box in her chest that no longer works. When I was a child, the box made a crying sound when you tipped her over.

Does anyone know the origin of this doll? Or the age? Thanks!

Look on back of her neck for any markings or on her back . She is a called a Mama Doll . Yours looks like 1930's-1940's composition , I can't see her face clear and I would guess body is cloth with composition arms and legs ? Her hair appears to be mohair . Looks like a USA made doll . More photo's always help when identifying a doll .close up of face photo's of any markings and nude . Hard to tell who made her but she is a nice family heirloom and she could be restored :-)

Manikin, thanks for the information. She has no markings. Her body is cloth, arms and legs are composition. seems to be stuffed with sawdust.

      Celiene,
She is very sweet! Thanks. She could definitely use a makeover. My kids call her Old Man Baby.
