Washstand? From a yard sale

I picked up at a yards ale it's all oak and obviously very old, the top is planks rather than on solid top all jointed drawers. I was thinking of painting it unless otherwise told it's worth cleaning up. Doesn't look to have been refinished and there is a lot of dirt from a long time built up. Any pointers on cleaning it up or whatever very much appreciated
