Porcelain dish - probably an ashtray. very finely made w/ a nicely gilded rim and an interesting 'catholic/deco' graphic of the now-deposed St. Cristopher. the mark on the back says 'Verbano', but i don't know anything about them.
Saint Christoper the patron saint of travel carrying the baby Christ on his back. There were some nice mascots made of Saint Christopher, a fair amount.
thanks Phil. wasn't St. Christopher deposed [not sure the right word for it]? i wonder why?
i have a bunch of medals worn by my great grandfather and grandfather which have St. Chistopher on them. they are very worn down and difficult to make out.
Verbano.
