I just picked this up at a yard sale and was going to 'up-cycle' it but wanted to get more information first. The label on the front identifies it as a Faber Sample Trunk from Utica NY. It is 25" (wide)x15"x10"(deep). Metal corners, black rivets, brass clips and the lock is an Eagle Lock Co, Terryville, Conn. Handle is molded and covered with stitched black dyed, but worn to natural color, leather. The lid is warped (as if the trunk was always stuffed full), torn near the lock on the lid and the simple riveted hinges on the back are badly rusted on one side. There is no lining. The inside is very clean. The outside is beat up and warped but was once smooth and black. It is very light weight. I think it is made of sole leather, but not positive. Nor of what the leather's origin is. 1.5mm thick.
Can anyone tell me more about it please?
Your case is made of fiber, or vulcanized fiber. If yo do a search on that you will find quite a bit of information.
