katherines…
(247 items)
So being a brooch person, I buy them if they appeal to my sense of style and beauty, if they are unusual or visually interesting, without regard for markings. Which makes identification difficult. At best I can guess at era with the clasp and settings though not nearly as good at identification as the experts here. This brooch has me scratching my head, maybe you all have some information to help me. 2" x 2 1/2". Gold base metal, big glass stone with small stones at the tips that look grimy. Have no idea what the decor is about, half flower half comet, maybe it's an alien species, lol. Any thoughts, ideas, theories? Thanks for looking.
love it!
Thanks for the love, nutsabotas6, aura, and courtenayantiques. :)
Thanks, Ken, I hadn't thought about a spray, and thanks for the era, although I think possibly a bit earlier. I'm glad you think it's pretty, so do I. :)
Very lovely, Katherine! And great presentation ~ wonderful photos! [;>)

It is very pretty Katherine, love it!!
Nice design. Late 40s - early 50s.
I agree with all the comments above. Good luck with your research :-)
A scout carrier sent by the strange creatures from planet Cometa Flos, come to check out who collects what and why on this weird planet Earth. The master jewellers at CF deliberately designed it to be beautiful and unusual and then arranged for it be deposited at a random shop. As we speak, they are checking out the rest of your brooch collection and reporting back to GHQ.

Thanks, Jean, greatly appreciated. :)
Karen, thank you my friend, but I suspect they pass my page right by in favor of the real beauteous things you and others here post. :)
Nice piece. I think it's from the 50's too. I see some similarities with this one:

By the way, I agree with your "philosophy" of collecting brooches:)
