I just bought this clock and pulled the clockworks out and I was surprised to see it was all wood gearing and what I want to know is what is the proper way to repair the wood gear shaft pin holes as they are worn and sloppy. I would like to retain the original wooden plates. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Just starting to work on old clocks and want to do it the proper way. I also need the lead weights, they were square with an eye at the top, where might I get those. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to Collectors Weekly. Nice clock! I don't know what your background is with repairing clocks but I think what you're looking for is a little beyond this forum's format. I would recommend that you go to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collector's Message Board, register and post your questions there. Yes and, do not go crazy trying to put bushings in the wood plates. After all these years, very few need bushings. Polish the pivots and do not oil the wood.
