I found this rocking chair at a yard sale last week. It caught my eye because of its smaller size ( 32 1/4" tall, seat is 19 1/2" at widest point). Not quite child size and not the usual size of typical rockers I've seen. I wasnt sure about buying it because it's pretty dirty (the black on the arms and inside top back scrapes off) and needs refinishing or maybe just a good cleaning, but went for it because I have a small house and didn't think this would take up much space. I paid twenty dollars for it and my husband says I shouldn't have paid more than five. I know nothing about antiques let alone chairs, so any help in identifying this chair as far as style and approximate age would be appreciated. Just want to know if it's worth refinishing or if I should put it by the side of the road with a free sign on it so I don't have to hear about it anymore. Thanks.

First rule of antiques. NEVER remove original patina. Get some Amish Wood Milk to clean it, and that's it.

I'm no expert on furniture, but I'dd call that a child's rocker. the seat must only be 12-13 inches off the ground at most? Or for a little person.

      Hi there!
Yes, the chair is 13" off the ground. Thanks for the tip about the Amish Wood Milk.
