I used to collect compacts in the 1970s through to the 1990s, and sold them to an antique dealer in 1995. I saw this one today in one of the local thrift shops and, well, there it is. :-)))
Not marked, but the patent number connects to a brand called "Mascot", which was made from 1956 up through the 1970s. The maker is A.S. Brown & Co. This one is probably late 1960s. "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" is stamped under the mirror. I might go ahead and get a replacement powder puff for it.
Thanks for looking/loving, CW friends!

Cutesy! Love the back design, too. Nice find, Bonnie! [;>)
The cosmetic companies made beautiful compacts back in the day. Thanks for sharing this one, Bonnie. :)
I don't collect compacts but seem to have a few anyway.
I really like this one.... imagine the pleasure of pulling this from your bag and smiling about it as you powdered off the shine!
karen - it really is unique. I guess that's supposed to be a mail carrier on horseback. I used face powder and blush many years ago. Not now. I stick to a bit of eye make up because I wear glasses and my eyes tend to fade behind them. I hate lipstick. I can't be bothered turning my face into a "coloring book", LOL!
Classy !! Things were so much stylish then compared to now !!
olebodie - thanks! There are lots of things I haven't heard of yet, either....lol~!
rose - they don't make 'em like they used to!
Lovely decor and raffined piece!
Agree, old (...!) times were full of stylish little things :-)
